Life Begins Again

It's 2016, let's begin again!

What a great title for a new life book. My last entry left off after retiring and selling a 3 bedroom 2 bath, 1930s beautiful old home in St. Helens. Several yard sales, rehomed cats and chickens, and brought my best pal fur baby, Adele, on an entire new life adventure. I found a little, 524 square foot cabin in what was once a hotel, with 4 cabins. It had a one butt kitchen, tiny wood fed fireplace and two bedrooms, one large enough for a double bed. The neighbors were great, and the owner soon became a good friend. It was a short walk to the beach, a great plus for my retirement.

I purchased my 1st digital camera with my house sale proceeds, found a community of artists, and joined a meet-up group online who met and shared their love of photography. My days were set!

While attending a potluck at the art studio, I heard the Gallery chair needed people to help her rehang the new art in the gallery, which happened each quarter. I raised my hand, the rest is a history of coming out of retirement!! Soon I was the Gallery Chair, in charge, and now on the Board of Directors. During the ending of a later meeting, I left to photocopy a page, returning I was welcomed as the new VP. Shocked, I accepted. They do things differently here.

Somewhere between helping with gallery hangings and VP appointments, I also met Richard. I'm not sure who pursued whom, but we met at my first gallery hanging in January 2017. Then gallery chair, Sharon, always had a get-together at her house following the reception night. She had invited Richard and of course I was already expected to attend. I was interested in taking his upcoming pastel class he would be teaching at the gallery and signed up. It appeared that I had become "teacher's pet" very soon. He called one day, inviting me to come see his "etchings" at his home, followed by lunch at a cute French cafe close by. Of course, not having had a man in my life for 15 years, I was rusty, but still alive, I accepted.
